Children’s Book Week is an event that several children look forward to each year. Three authors this year will be recognized for their love of children’s literature and these landmarks are very impressionable in a child’s life. This even is presented by United for Libraries, in which the Children’s book Council joint committee and the American Library Association are in charge of.

United for Libraries (a division of the American Library Association), Centers for the Book, and a library in maple sugar country are celebrating Children’s Book Week (May 1–7, 2017) with dedications of three Literary Landmarks that recognize a variety of beloved children’s literature.

The three authors that are being presented during the week of May 1-7th, includes Virginia Sorensen, Mark Twain, and Barbara Park. Virginia Sorensen is best known for her child’s novel called “Miracles on Maple Hill” that inspire a young child to help her prison-of-war father get over the trauma that the war has caused him. Second, Mark Twain is known best for his two fictional characters; Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. These two characters portrayed the life an American child through their eyes. This novel has hopefully inspired people of today to make the world a better place for children. The last author, Barbara Park, has shown the world the love of a child named Junie B. Jones that she characterized after a student that attended an elementary school within Scottsdale Unified School District. With several novels out about Junie B. Jones and her adventures, it is a character that children instantly fall in love with and can relate to.
