Many girls in the country are being steered away from math and science ventures but not this group of young girls. These girls are just in middle school and are already trying to be more active as well as getting other girls more active in STEM programs and activities. Recently, Elena Weitz and some of her classmates were able to tour a Stem Cell Lab.
STEM: Girls, Education and opportunities for growth and learning.
While the girls were touring the UW Medicine Stem Cell Labs they were able to meet the research scientist. While meeting them, they were also privileged to seeing them work. One of the best parts of this for the girls included that most of the scientists were females. The idea behind all of this is to get other girls excited about careers in science and in math by exposing as my girls as possible to experiences like this.
