There is a theory that children who deal with learning difficulties develop grit and determination in all aspects of life. As a result, they are more equipped to deal with other challenges that may come their way. They also seem to take these learning struggles in stride, and they don't allow the struggles to control other aspects of their life. They also tend to work extremely hard to overcome the learning struggles that they are enduring.
In an effort to reinforce what is most important in my son’s development, and to help him overcome the feelings of inadequacy and discouragement that so easily creep-in these days, I wanted to find a way to immerse ourselves in stories of others who have struggled and prevailed.

Key Takeaways:

1
When children learn about others who have faced difficulties and survived, it helps them to change the way they view their circumstances and themselves to a more positive light.
2
By enabling the child to relate to story characters who have overcome odds, it builds confidence and character in the child.
3
By asking questions that are engaging and thought-provoking, it helps the child learn to overcome difficulties and become resilient.
