This article discusses identifying the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children. The behaviors associated with ADHD present differently in different children. Whereas some children may exhibit primarily inattention expressed as problems with paying attention, distractibility, difficulty concentrating and following directions, other children may have issues with constant fidgeting movements, rapid speech or impulsive actions such as blurting out things at the wrong times and not considering the consequences before undertaking a course of action. The article raises some steps parents can take to assist their ADHD child including creating a structured environment, helping your child to set appropriate goals and creating positive reinforcements to reward good behaviors.
