This article focuses on a disorder related to Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome. Asperger’s syndrome is characterized largely by difficulties associated with observing social cues and interacting with others. A person with Asperger’s will present as average or above average intelligence, a key difference from Autism. Asperger’s can become highly focused on their interests and difficulty focusing on unrelated subjects. They can also be highly sensitive to certain types of physical stimuli and present with language issues such as flat affect and the ability to think abstractly. They also tend to resist changes in their daily activities.
