Autism Spectrum Disorder (Infograph)

Autism Spectrum Disorder, more commonly referred to as simply autism, is a genetic disease that affects the mental health of those afflicted. There is no known cure, and the disease is genetic in nature. It is estimated that one of 88 children born in today’s times are diagnosed with autism, according to a recent study conducted by the Center for Disease Control. ASD is a broad definition for a number of genetic ailments including Asperger’s syndrome and autistic disorder. It is estimated that boys are up to four times more likely to be affected than girls, and the rate of diagnosed cases of autism has been growing rapidly in recent decades. While no known cure has been found yet, researchers are working worldwide to try and find a way to limit the number of cases and promote healthy mental development for all.
