Encouraging children to read for pleasure can be very beneficial. Reading can help develop a larger vocabulary, improve speaking, encourage imagination, and promote academic and emotional development. Through the character's eyes, children can be transported to different worlds and experience a full range of emotions that they may otherwise never be exposed to. There are many ways to support a love of reading in your child. One way is to build a library so that your child has many books on hand to choose from. Another is to use books as a reward for your child. Finally and possibly most important, is to be a reader yourself. If your child is surrounded by readers it will feel natural for them to want to read as well.
