Classroom Accommodations for ADHD (Infograph)

This infographic is presented to teachers working with students with ADHD by understood.org. Advice is broken down into five key categories, including classroom learning, the organization of materials, class work and test taking, in-class learning, and behavior. Links to the understood.org website are made available for additional information. The organization advises teachers to improve the student's focus by putting the child close to the teacher, making him/her comfortable and decreasing disturbances. Teachers are advised to increase organize by providing duplicate workbooks for home and school, providing coordinated school materials, and providing written routines. Teachers are encouraged to make tests and assignments shorter, to accept answers in written, oral, or typed formats, and to grade for work completed instead of subtracting points for mistakes. Teachers are advised to keep their instructions simple and concise. They are encouraged to give instructions verbally, in a written format. Teachers are encouraged to give positive feedback, instead of punishments.
