Dyspraxia (Infographic)

All over the world, people suffer every day from a condition affecting the operation and development of motor skills called dyspraxia. Dyspraxia often makes it difficult for people to plan and execute many movements and can lead to lifelong difficulty doing everyday tasks. Dyspraxia can also affect speech, making communication with others difficult. Dyspraxia goes by many names: developmental coordination disorder, motor learning difficulty, motor planning difficulty and apraxia of speech. There is no known cure for dyspraxia; it is considered a lifelong condition. Not only does this disorder affect a person’s physical ability, it can have effects on one’s mental development as well. Many dyspraxics often behave immaturely, even though they are considered to be intelligent. While the disorder cannot be cured, physical therapy and determination have been shown to reduce the limits dyspraxia puts on one’s ability to move to the point that one can become functional in society.
