How Your Child’s Sensory Processing Issues May Change Over Time (Infograph)

As children grow, they can develop issues with how they process sensory information from their surroundings. The symptoms of these issues may change over time. So that you can identify these signs and differentiate them from normal childhood behavior, Understood.org has created this graphic. It outlines the different issues you might see as a child progresses through the different stages from a baby to a preschooler, through grade school and middle school, and finally into high school. Sensory issues can vary on a wide spectrum. For example, on one end of the spectrum, you might see that the child does not want to be held. At the other end of the spectrum, you might see that the child constantly needs to touch people or objects. As the child grows older, these issues become more complex.
