Whenever we hear compliments and criticisms, we often focus on the negative. Often, this is how it works for the human brain even from a young age. Our brains constantly examine the environment for threats to protect us and ensure our survival. The brain prefers to focus on the negative and this is called “negativity bias.”  It is normal for children to emphasize the negative so you should not worry about it because it’s normal. And thanks to a phenomenon called neuroplasticity, it’s possible to rewire the brain for positivity. When we help our children practice positivity, we train their brains to look on the bright side.
