Family Rituals That Teach Responsibility, Kindness, and Compassion (Infographic)

Each family has their own rituals and routines and sometimes difficult to distinguish between them. A ritual is a series of actions that are done repeatedly while a tradition is a belief or behavior that is passed down and has a cultural significance tied to the past. Ask yourself, why are family rituals important? Rituals let families calm down and connect with each other. It is believed that both family routines and rituals bring stability and are associated with adolescents’ sense of personal identity, children’s health, academic achievement, and marital satisfaction. Maintaining these routines and rituals even during times of changes that happen in one’s life lower the levels of conflict and helps children adjust to these changes thus protecting them from the proposed risks of non-traditional families.
