The 20th century saw several milestones in ADHD conceptualization. In 1902, George Still became the first person to describe the diagnosis in greater detail. Subsequent papers encouraged the National Institute of Health to fund studies on ADHD as a diagnosis. Over the years, practitioners have opted to distinguish between certain types of the disorder among younger populations.
