Autism Spectrum Disorder is a genetic disorder that inhibits the physical and mental capacity of those infected. It is caused by a mutation in the autistic’s chromosomes, and has no known cure available. It is estimated that one in every 110 children born in today’s world is likely to be diagnosed with autism, with a higher percentage of those being male. Men and women born with autism are considered disabled, and the cost of raising an autistic child can be immense. Not only is the drain on ones financial resources profound, but it can be extremely physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. It is estimated that autism has cost those affected collectively over 60 billion dollars. While no cure has been found, researchers are working around the clock to eliminate this disease and limit its effect on families and friends.
