A child that is diagnosed with dyscalculia exhibits difficulty with mathematical comprehension. This inability to grasp the subject may be due to deficits in concentration, memory, or spatial skills. Although these children may lack mathematical ability, the IQ of the child remains average to above average. 14% of children with learning disabilities may experience such difficulty with telling time, word problems, or computation. This does not make the child “lazy”, as a child with dyscalculia will experience difficulty with strong attempt.
