We can all agree, when speaking of drugs, that they have the ability to have powerful effects on the brain. The infographic explains the different parts of the brain as well as their functions, which helps the brain to maintain its normal behavior, such as, the four lobes of the brain and the way cells communicate with one another. The three main parts of the brain that are affected by drugs are also explained, as well as their normal purposes for the brain; those are as follows: the cerebral cortex, the brain stem, and the limbic system. The infographic goes on to explain how the brain transmits messages normally versus how the brain transmits messages and functions when affected by drugs. Lastly, we learn how addiction happens, when the amount of dopamine is reduced in the brain because one has introduced drugs into their system, which then begins to take over.
