Charlestown cop sues over alleged ADHD discrimination #adhd

Evan Speck, a Charlestown, Rhode Island police officer of eleven years, is suing his Chief and department alleging that they discriminated against him by denying that his ADHD inhibits his ability to do his job. Speck claims that he is unable to perform his job at this time and the department retaliated by firing him and removing his benefits.

Evan Speck, 34, of Westerly, with 11 years on the Charlestown force, has filed two lawsuits in U.S. District Court against Police Chief Jeffrey S. Allen and the town due to alleged retaliation and violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Police department claims that Speck, who has not been at work for several months, has been able to travel cross-country to attend several bodybuilding competitions. He has also had work done to his home and bought a car. The department does not believe that Speck has any such disability and stand by their decision to terminate his employment.
