All school, no play? Kids' learning suffers without a recess

6-year old Nadav Gilboa is beginning first grade and exhibiting discipline problems that were not present in kindergarten. Nadavâs restlessness is caused by a reduction in the amount of recess time and physical activity during the week. Playtime and activity are necessary for a childâs continued educational development and personal growth.
