‘The Human Calculator’ is fixed on helping young people love math #dyscalculia

Math teacher Scott Flansburg is known as the “Human Calculator” because he can solve math problems at superhuman speed. Changes in his brain allow him to calculate at an incredible speed, gaining him the Guinness World Record in such calculations. Unlike others with his talent, who often hold PhD degrees, Mr Flansburg joined the Air Force before becoming a children’s math teacher.

Almost three decades later, the man known as “The Human Calculator” has been teaching children the joy and simplicity of math with his own, more streamlined methods. Flansburg shares those methods regularly during speeches at elementary schools in Clark County and around the world.

Scott Flansburg, a ‘human calculator,’ does math at superhuman speed.

Mr Flansburg teaches children math by using simple rules to make it easier for them to understand. One of Mr Flansburg’s rules has to do with the number 9, a lesson targeted at 9-year-old children. Another lesson has to do with 0, which he say should be the first number instead of 1. His tips and tricks are designed to enhance the learning of children in math class.
