East Williston schools seek to better integrate math, science #dyscalculia

East Williston school district officials are working fervently to produce a more cohesive district standard. They may merge their Advanced Placement computer science class with the science and technology initiative Project Lead the Way for grades nine through twelve. In addition, they are considering making changes to their eighth-grade research program to match the district’s other initiatives.

”You just no longer read and write in English [classes] anymore,” he said. “… It’s part of science, it’s part of social studies, it’s part of math.”

East Williston School District has implemented an engineering geared curriculum.

The revamped Advanced Placement computer science program will give more attention to software engineering than the previous class had. The change would follow Project Lead’s engineering initiative. The district’s math program research may also make similar changes and advancements that would mirror Wheatley’s science research program and its Advanced Placement capstone course.
