How a student experiences the subject of math is greatly affected by the group that they are in and how it is composed. Weak students that are in high performing math classes feel a lot worse than their peers who are strong in their math skills and feel bored by the subject. What was found was that in groups where many kids were strong in math, the impact on their pride was often quite negative as a matter of fact.
