Students better at math have economic impact #dyscalculia

Are you a student or know someone that is? Have you ever thought that you or a student could have an economic impact? If you are like most people, then you do not really believe that a student or even you could have an impact on the economy but what if students who are better at math can have an economic impact?

Given this strong dependence of Florida’s economy on the math skills of its workers, you would think that the state’s weakness in student math achievement would inspire a frantic effort by educational leaders to address it.

Some believe that by raising math standards, the GDP will grow.

One person, Eric Hanushek, a fellow at the conservative Hoover Institution actually led a study on exactly that. He believes that if each state raised its secondary-level math achievement that it would increase the gross domestic product or GDP for that state.
