This article discusses dysgraphia as it relates to adult life. Beginning with the College Board, which governs the ACT and SAT, among other standardized tests, the author explains how various professionals view dysgraphia. Because many professionals and organizations such as the College Board view dysgraphia as a fine motor disorder and not a neurological disorder, someone with dysgraphia can be misdiagnosed. The author continues by explaining the options open to parents of children with dysgraphia: therapy and advocation for accommodation. The author concludes that perception often cannot be changed but accommodation can be worked for.
