One may argue that by the time students finish their schooling careers, they’ve become pretty tired up of writing essays. Troy Hicks, Director of the Chippewa River Writing Project, hopes to reinvigorate the love of writing of our future teachers. Troy engages pre-service teachers in his college course “Writing in the Elementary and Middle School” by assigning challenging -yet less stringent- writing tasks for them to practice doing. It’s his hope to spark (or re-spark) their loves of writing so that one day they’ll pass those feelings onto kids of their own classrooms.
