Ask a pediatrician: The right approach to a child’s learning ‘difference’ via #dyslexia

If you go to parent teacher conferences this year and find out that your child is falling behind what do you do? First, listen to the teacher with an open mind. Are behavioral issues affecting your child’s performance or is it something more complex? Is it possible that your child is struggling with dyslexia or ADHD? Don’t panic. There are many ways for you to advocate for your child if they are having issues at school. The start is testing and proper diagnosis. And then selecting the proper and positive school environment and appropriate programs for your child. The way you approach the issue goes a long way toward predicting whether the outcome will be successful.
