A UW study has shown how quickly kids' brains can change as they are learning the art of reading. There is a lot of in what happens to a person with dyslexia when they begin to read. Scientists have been trying to tease what takes place when a kid learns how to read. The cellular structure of the white matter begins to change when the kids go to school. Kids gain more white matter when they get better at reading.
