OU H818 – Dyslexia Tool Kit Project Presentation

Distance learning and online education resources are no longer unique and are quite common now. Online multimedia learning resources are much more convenient than instructor-led learning and are able to be accessed on a variety of Internet-enabled devices. Although generally easy to use, these resources may not be optimized for learners with a specific learning difficulty (SpLD)/dyslexia.
The Dyslexia Tool Kit is a project aimed at creating an open learning resource. The objective of the project is to develop a tool kit for educators and resource developers that take the specific needs of SpLD students into consideration during resource development. The tool kit will be developed in conjunction with, and incorporating feedback from, the major dyslexia support groups. A conference will be held in February 2017 to outline the specific details of the project.

Key Takeaways:

1
Distance learning and a variety of online and multimedia resources are wonderful and increasingly popular tools for dyslexia management.
2
One deficiency of such tools, however, is that they can limit those with SpLD.
3
So to include these students in distance learning and multimedia learning, Tool Kit software will be developed using feedback and input from major dyslexia groups.
