Dyslexia is a disorder that affects ten to fifteen percent of the population, but most of those students receive no help or diagnosis for their disorder. Rahmanda Campbell, founder and chief executive officer of The Reading Clinic in Philadelphia, hopes to work against this trend by providing professional testing and services for students at risk of academic failure. She states, “Illiteracy ties us to our past with extreme limitations… Reading proficiency connects us to a future with unlimited potential. Literacy opens doors of opportunity that no other skill can provide.” Hopefully, similar reading clinics in America can become a new trend.
