Reading is actually not something that is a natural part of who we are. It is something people learn and some people struggle with it a lot and can never quite understand it. A person needs to be taught how to read in a systematic manner. Structured literacy is one way that is being used to help kids read and this approach has a lot of research behind it and it seems to be accurate as well.
