McDaniel reading clinic fosters education, enjoyment for young students #reading

Reading is a core element for learning and development. One college has gone the extra mile in teaching, as well as providing a valuable community service that enhancing reading skills. McDaniel College is working in conjunction with Carroll County Public Schools to providing valuable teaching experience for the college’s students and learning experiences for the Carroll County Public school students.

[The reading clinic] is a federal program “that provides financial assistance to local school systems and schools with high percentages of poor children to support the academic achievement of disadvantaged students,” according to the Maryland State Department of Education.

McDaniel College is stepping up to support students with reading difficulties.

Towards the end of the Master’s degree program at McDaniel College, the graduate students put into action what they have learned and teach a summer reading program to support the academic achievement of disadvantaged students within the Carrol County Public Schools and they are seeing progress with the students in reading comprehension.
