Minority students are more likely to miss school and become suspended than white students. Overall, different cultures look at situations differently, and would take different actions to solve them. There is a cultural competence test that involves being able to relate to people of different cultures, which is extremely important for teachers. The easiest way to increase cultural competence is to build a relationship with the person or student, and get to know them. There are strategies a teacher can use in order to manage the classroom with “cultural responsiveness”.
