Currently, our academic system spends little to no time on SEL learning (i.e., social and emotional learning). Teachers and administrators typically claim there is no tangible benefit to this sort of instruction. However, research has shown that by incorporating such SEL techniques as Classroom Community Problem Solving and Active Listening, at-risk students are often instilled with confidence, and the ability to succeed.
