Stop the Dyslexia Debate

Learning differences can be a controversial thing. Lately there has been a lot of research done to establish that not all people can learn the same way. Still, not everyone believes that there is a truth behind the science that has proven learning differences exists. People can get into heated arguments over this matter. How do we end this debate?
Are learning differences a real thing? It depends who you ask. Some people would say there is, while others say there isn’t. People are convinced that learning problems are contrived and only imagined, and that there is no real problem. Why would this be something to argue about? Is it really worth arguing about? We only need to worry about finding an answer!
Given that there is a wide abundance of research to establish the existence of developmental dyslexia—defined as an unexpected difficulty learning how to read—it was troubling to hear about literacy specialists and researchers spreading this kind of misinformation.
