If your child is in high school and having trouble, then ask them what they like about school and they could talk about a class they like. Asking them about what is happening in their respective classes is a good idea as well. This will encourage them to open up about their work. If they do not open up, then give them a paper and pen and have them write down what is happening with them in school.
