Students learn things, not just from watching videos or attending lectures, by being shown how to do them and by practice. Teachers need to model for their students. This means using multiple examples, visuals and tools when explaining a new idea to students. When modeling, teachers must involve students in the thinking behind what they are doing. The process then progresses incrementally as the students do more and the teacher does less.
