Cooks Corners students are fired up for reading #reading

The students who read the most books at Cooks Corners Elementary School by participating in the “Fired Up for Reading” program will get to ride to school in a fire truck. Fire Chief Chad Dutz said he wanted to connect with school children in a positive way. It’s a way for them to see how important reading is.

Students who read the most will ride a fire truck to school.

Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas said he thought it was a good way to promote reading. The students will be able to read the books of their choice and at their level. One second-grader, Carson Kinsey got excited about the possibility of riding on a fire truck just for doing something he loves anyway.
