Kids reap rewards from summer reading program #reading

Several kids in a summer reading program have made a lot of progress. Their teachers are amazed by their newfound ability to read in full. These students show a lot of progress and want to share their story too. 

Nearly 30 kids who spent their summer with their noses in books finally got a huge payoff. They had to attend Ready, Set, READ! in Reading’s Oakbrook neighborhood for 30 out of the 40 days of the program to qualify for a free bike, helmet, and backpack.

Summer reading programs are beneficial to literacy.

Program supervisors are working to keep kids in the summer reading program. They want to make sure that students do not slide back into their old habits. Each student will continue to read and develop these important skills that they need.
