Why babies should swim before they walk

Many parents concern themselves with making sure their baby learns to walk quickly, yet few even consider when they will learn how to swim. Drowning is, in fact, the second-leading cause of death for toddlers– it cannot be understated how important learning to swim can be. While it is definitely important for toddlers, many swimming organizations have begun to recommend that children learn to swim as early as six months old in order to promote exercise and prevent drownings.
